A Gift for a Friend

A gift made by two for a friend.

The wrapping was on a core of cotton with red possum and black bamboo/wool.
Metal of red and black with a core of copper adds a richness to the creation........basket.
Shaped elements to remind us how nature is always adjusting and creating much pattern, texture and beauty for us.

Time passing - when to make Again

It has been a hectic time that is too much to explain. But I have finally got four warps partly on two looms. By this I mean I have wound four warps beamed them but only one is threaded and I have yesterday started weaving.

I know I was supposed to open my wonderful OLD 1850's STUDIO to the world and show it and what I do to you all, but life throws curve balls and sometimes we or me in this case just decides (after some pushing by faceless, nameless people) I hit the ball, into a better place I hope. I will always come back to me and that itch to make comes back with more - so I am pleased about this. The studio is still a work in progress but I now have a purple (me) door and the step will be fixed better than a patch up job. I hope people will come when I get game to open Moments studio - which is what I named the studio as I have had where life can change for the good or bad in a moment but it is a moment in my life.

I am weaving a yellow/red on a white warp which is challenging as I do little with yellow - but it seemed needed for my soul. I have made a small piece for a friend's birthday which I enjoy.

I would like to thank all my friends who have been and are their for myself during this time, too see them make is always great to my soul to look at beautiful textiles, glass and metalsmithing of such talented people.

Opening - Moments Studio

Here is the repairing of the studio after two trees fell onto it last year. Much work to be done at the time of taking picture. But will be fixed and feeling much happier as time goes on. I will need to look at paint colours for the door and windows, but the inside is tradition gallery white.

Weavings and wall hangings along with glass fused pieces that is made by us. As we are always looking to putting an expression of what impacts on us - in the beauty of life - into our pieces.

The making is always happening. Ideas seem to be around all the time, it is what can I do or how or who is this piece being made for.
Yet the main part for me is I Make For It Is Part of ME.

Swirly Basket

The Swirly Basket using wool and cord core. Shape that showed movement and gave the greyness of the yarn more texture than 2-D in other forms.

Book or IT Pocket Socks Knitted

Welcome to an idea of knitting from some of my dyed and commrical yarns from my stash. The idea that people put plastic covers over their laptops or tablets or even books of all shapes and sizes has been around for sometime.
but remember the library bag from school usually calico or some other fabric that you would take your books in to and from school. The wool ones do give a natural contection with nature, but I have brightened them up and played with colour combinations. May you enjoy them as I enjoyed making these one so far - more are in the works.

Splash of Yellow

This is where I have used a splash of yellow yarn to give a splash of difference. I used landscape dyes to colour. I had done some solid dyed yarn for a present, this is what I did with the dye left to see if my other idea would work. Yes the dye idea worked. The pieces are to be wet finished.

Reflective Shape

The showing of the reflective tape yarn hanging at LOT 19 for the recent Sculpture exhibition. The first few images show insitu while the last is it reflecting.
To shape a piece of weaving after it is woven, or to cut up is always a interesting for me as one who likes to multi use a piece I have made which is straight length.

Weaving

To be weaving this length approx 3 metres long and 10cm wide. I have used 100% wool, for both warp and weft. The weft is made up of single o...
