Welcome

This is my introduction to blogging from this side. I have watched, a friend do hers for sometime now and are on the subscription of others which have been very insightful. So now I am on this journey to becoming an interactive member of blogging. I look forward to discovering and having creativity exchange with others.
To create and show to others what I have made has brought about the need in myself the desire to share what I am exploring both of ideas and actual doing and in doing so, too hear the advice and suggestion from others is very beneficial and I look forward to comments.

Weaving:

I have been learning weaving for a short time - four years and not constantly either. I do look at objects and think how can I make that texture from the bark of the gumtree in the yard into an interesting weave. From there my mind is off and racing with what about this or that way, it could be made. Then I'm onto what if I change it from representing this to a now abstract related inspiration now. Can I take it from standard materials of wool or cotton maybe both, dilemma. Then I am back to classes, with all of this semi put aside waiting, just waiting. sometimes I can sample in class part of my idea only to keep the rest for when I finish as there is usually not enough time before we are onto the next project/brief.

The project just off my loom is a hand manipulated Danish Medallion from the handweaver's pattern book by Anne Dixon. It is 68 cm off the loom by 210cm- length of alpaca yarn, dark brown and a contrast light brown with flecks of vibrant colours. I gave this to a friend for Christmas 2009. I very much enjoyed doing this hand manipulation and experiencing how to control the amount of pull on the light brown yarn. I entered this in the Royal Melbourne Show 2009 and received prize.

Thank you for viewing I look forward to sharing more in the future.

I learnt that I need to change the date from when I started that blog so this was posted on5/2/2010 but started on the date above. working on how to make pictures smaller and wording took some tine along with my personal time availability. thank you
