Moments are Out, Even is Uneven

I have been making since the end part of Dec 2013 on a number of small weavings that would in a moment create an image in my mind. It then moved to the small looms and 4 selvedge method of weaving Tapestry. Colour seemed to answer itself almost with myself viewing these two colours sitting comfortably together in a box, one soft the other stiff and man-made.

To make is always a mixture of excitement and wonder how an idea comes to life and develops into the expression of emotion, thought and soul of both the materials and my response to them thus giving myself the encouragement to make.

I then came to finish the weaving when I realised that each piece was not yet complete, the sense of a completed work was when they were on their backgrounds which gave the weavings a place to call home.

These works are being shown as my solo exhibition and I am pleased how they have come together as both a body of work and individual pieces.

1st Window Display

This is my first go at a window display and I enjoyed the process, seeing my weaving and yarns that I use on display for people to see. While this happened during the wool and sheep show earlier this year it is something I am very proud to have done.

Opening of Carole's Studio

The opening of Carole's studio was a delightful event on a perfect day, just the right amount of sun and heat. Myself along with the many other friends all went to wish Carole, all the best for the future of this very talented person who welcomes people into her life, while being so creative.
Glass, metal, paper are but a few of the areas of exploration and desire for Carole.

These two felted ones enjoying the chance to meet people.

This shows how Carole balances and moves from metal to felt also glass and the sneak peaks of the digital images.

Metal objects which are aluminum to which some are coloured, what vibrancy in colour choice which is why I admire here work and friendship.
Thank you Carole for a wonderful day..

Weaving Displayed

The Castlemaine Artist Market in Victoria Australia is my local artist market and I share a stall with my husband. Recently (May to June) I had been asked if I would like some of my weaving to be displayed with the gentleman who does beautiful wooden boards, etc I was honoured and said yes. This is displayed in the Castlemaine Theatre Royal and the lady who put together our goods has done a wonderful display.

So I popped down one Saturday during the month and saw my weaving looking lovely nestled amongst the wood and where people can see a sample of the talent that local handcrafted artisan's make. Each month another artist/s is shown for the world to see.

The start of showing my works -WHITE

The date of this post is 20th December 2010

The recent experience of showing this my work to people I do not know or have discussed with regarding what, why and for has been very interesting. I have had people touch, come up close and look, then show others my white piece. This was shown at Moonee Valley racecourse where our end of course with other departments of RMIT (fashion and textiles) school in Melbourne was held over two nights and one day.

This is a length of hand woven acrylic yarn that I borrowed some a friend to finish. I weaved it on my loom that a Melbourne maker made many years ago. It is still going well, just needing a little TLC and regular oiling. The weaving took over 15 hours and I did a block weave that surrounded a two over and under pattern. Then making squares out of rocks, which was boiled an resulted in many interesting shapes, then to bring out the different effects I used my hoops to go with the construction theme which works for me and my piece is finished. A few pins and help from others, a work on show. These were on show for two nights and a day, giving those a brief glimpse into our work.

Weaving

To be weaving this length approx 3 metres long and 10cm wide. I have used 100% wool, for both warp and weft. The weft is made up of single o...
